Job description

The Senior Accountant supports the Director of Accounting in the fiscal and operational needs of the department and the organization as a whole. The Senior Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in accounting tasks, with an emphasis on the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.


  • Monthly maintenance of the grant schedule;
  • Maintenance of grant document database;
  • Timely preparation and submission of SF425s;
  • Timely preparation and submission of invoices;
  • Ownership of cash receipt function, ensuring timely and accurate recording of deposits, etc;
  • Responsible for cost share reporting and review and maintenance of supporting documentation;
  • Review Aged Receivable report on a weekly basis for past due accounts and coordinate with corresponding program personnel to obtain a resolution;
  • Responsible for indirect rate calculation and revenue posting as part of the monthly closing process;
  • Monthly reconciliation of accounts receivable related balance sheet accounts;
  • Ownership of drawdown function including maintenance of the corresponding supporting documentation and associated approvals;
  • Responsible for recording and processing vendor invoices, reimbursement requests, etc;
  • Monthly reconciliation of accounts payable related balance sheet accounts;
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting;
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience with account reconciliation experience required;
  • Strong work ethic with a defined sense of urgency;
  • Organized self-starter that works well in a team environment;
  • Strong attention to detail and retention of pertinent information;
  • MS Office and Excel proficiency required;
  • Knowledge of general accounting;
  • Accurate and Efficient Data Entry.
