Start Date: September 28, two-month duration

Position Summary

The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is a global, community-centered conservation organization founded in 1977 that advances the vision and work of our founder, Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, and UN Messenger of Peace. Through groundbreaking science, holistic wildlife conservation, and youth empowerment through our global Roots & Shoots program, we work to understand and protect chimpanzees and other great apes, while inspiring action to conserve the natural world we all share. In doing so, we improve the lives of people, other animals, and the environment.

Since 2006, the Jane Goodall Institute USA has maintained a library of books written by and gifted to Dr. Jane Goodall and the Institute. JGI USA is seeking an intern to assist in the organization of this library and the cataloguing of new additions, including academic reports and journals.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn and apply digital tools ResourceMate and WorldCat to catalogue books added to the JGI USA library.

  • Maintain organization of the books in the physical library at the JGI USA DC office.

  • Create library catalogue listings for academic reports and journals.

  • File and document any materials sent with books gifted to the Institute.

Job requirements

Qualifications

  • Passionate about archival content and library maintenance.

  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving.

  • Fast learner with an interest in cataloguing software.

  • Collaborative working style as well as a demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Willingness to seek feedback, adapt practices, and continuously learn.
